SPOOKY HEALTHY SNACK

ALL YOU NEED:

INDIVIDUALLY PACKAGED MANDARIN ORANGE CUPS
A PERMANENT MARKER

OK, this might not really be a recipe, but I did have a light bulb moment. My daughter's kindergarten class is having a Halloween themed "healthy" snack time at school. I was put in charge of fruit. I could not think of anything that would be age appropriate and not a huge mess for them to eat. (I love her teacher and wouldn't do that to her). So, when I was packing my kids' lunches this morning, I got my great idea.... "ta-da" Mandarin oranges and a sharpie!

This is fabulous! There's enough candy and sweets during the month of October. I love that this is festive AND healthy. I'll be making these for a Halloween lunch next month. Thanks so much for sharing.

Thanks for the great idea! We have a girl in our preschool that's diabetic and I was trying to think of something that she could have for our harvest party and that everyone else could have too. I'm going to check with her mom tonight and see if she likes oranges! :)

I want to give these away at the Trunk or Treat at our Church. My Husband thinks Parents might throw them away because of tampering concerns.

Any Thoughts?

pretty cute, but why not just use a real mandarin orange. No processed food, and looks more like a real pumpkin, as well as no plastic packaging. Just a thought

I totally stole this idea for my daughter's class. Thank you! I hadn't looked closely at your picture, so I was a little dismayed to see expiration date, etc sprayed on the lids. One swipe with just a hint of nail polish remover took it off easily. I figure the lids are coming off anyway, but now they will be extra cute without the letters showing through.

I just bought oranges today to make these to give out to my son's friends (he's 3). I also bought the Dole brand and was disappointed to see the writing on the lid (the Target brand oranges had them on the side - should have bought those!). I'm going to try either rubbing alcohol or the nail polish remover. Hopefully a quick swipe will take it off without seeping inside. LOVE this idea - so simple and so cute!
